Almost every fabric in this little pillow once belonged to a woman's wardrobe — and my daughter's careful hands brought them all back to life.
The cheerful red fabric dotted with white stars? Cut from a lady's shirt. The delicate lace flower appliqué? From a lady's skirt. The soft rosy fabric peeking through? From a lady's dress. And the classic white hobnail — the same beloved bedspread from my own childhood bed, found folded in my mother's attic after she passed.
Four women's stories, stitched into one small pillow.
My daughter deconstructed every piece of clothing by hand — seam by seam — the way she does with everything we make together. Then she stuffed this pillow herself.
